Events, causes and the truth behind your lore
Events in WorldMaster RPG record what happened in your world and why. Each event can have causes and consequences, repeat on your own calendar, name the characters and factions involved, and carry a truth status - canonical, believed, rumoured, disputed, propaganda, misinterpreted or secret - so you always know what is real and what people only think is real.
How do causes and consequences work?
Link events with a cause, or add a consequence straight from the event that led to it. An event can have several causes, and a mind map shows how events connect through causes and other links such as triggers, escalates into or resolves. A link can stay hidden from players until they discover it.
What is a truth status?
Lore is rarely simple. A truth status marks how factual an event is, from canonical to rumoured to outright propaganda, and each character can believe something different about the same event. Players see what their characters believe; the true account stays with the GM.
- Seven truth statuses, from canonical to secret
- Per-character beliefs about the same event
- Recurring events by day, week, month or year on your own calendar
- Undated events kept in order, for myths and ancient history
Can players add events?
Yes. Players can record their own events from the calendar, credited to their character, and edit what they wrote. GM events can stay in draft or be shown only to chosen characters, and a faction the players do not know about never appears on an event they can see.
Frequently asked questions
Do events need a date?
No. Undated events keep their order without a date, which suits myths and early history.
Can I filter a long list of events?
Yes. The events explorer filters by calendar, tag, organisation and resolution, and switches between details and a mind map.
