Player trading with a real trade window
Player trading in WorldMaster RPG works like the trade window in an online RPG. Two characters open a trade, each puts items and coins from their inventory on the table, and the trade completes only when both sides confirm the same offer. The items then move between the two inventories, containers and all.
How does a trade work?
One player sends a trade request to another character in the campaign. Both sides then build their offer from their own inventory, shown as the same tree of bags and chests they use every day, with filters to find an item fast. Confirming locks your offer; if anyone changes anything, both confirmations clear, so nobody can swap an item out at the last second.
- Offer items, whole containers or part of a stack of coins
- A preview of each offered item, with the description the other player may see
- Choose which bag or chest receives the items you get
- Start a trade straight from an item: Trade item, then pick who gets it
Can the GM trade with players?
Yes. The GM trades through the characters in the current scene, so a shopkeeper, a smuggler or a dragon with a hoard can haggle with the party in the same window. Characters hidden from the scene are never offered as trading partners.
What stays secret in a trade?
A trade never reveals more than each player already knows. Items you do not own or cannot see are never named, sections of an item description marked for the GM stay hidden, and a disguised character trades under the name the other player knows.
Frequently asked questions
Is player trading on by default?
No. The GM turns trading on for each campaign in the campaign settings.
What happens if an item changes during the trade?
The trade notices. An item edited after it was offered is refused, and any change to an offer clears both confirmations.
